Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study is to develop 3-D online virtual learning environment which supports collaborative learning. It also aims to find a way to facilitate use and eliminate any possible factors that can prevent the use of such an environment.Design case in formative research was utilized in this study. The participants in this study were 56 senior students who were enrolled in ?Project Development and Management ? II? at Gazi University?s Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department. The implementation process lasted for six weeks.Data collection involved, usage surveys of 3-D Virtual Learning Environments that consist of open-ended questions, close-ended questions, and focus group interviews were used. Descriptive statistics and content analysis were used in the data analysis phase.In conclusion, the use of 3-D Virtual Learning Environments with collaborative learning creates freedom of time and space, useful learning environments, social presence, and increase motivation in students. 3-D Virtual Learning Environments can be seen as an alternative to face to face education and online learning environments. Design principles that are required for effective and efficient education will be explained in the recommendations section.
