Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to create a fingerprint database with the help of mineralogical petrographic, geochemical and 13δC and 18δO isotope analyses of Afyon violet marbles. For this purpose, violet marbles obtained from İscehisar (Afyonkarahisar) were divided into 3 different groups according to their textural properties. The commercial names of violet marbles were taken into consideration in the grouping in question. These are purple violet marbles (AFV), Argento violet marbles (ARG) and sugar violet marbles (SV). In the thesis study, the mineralogical-petrographic and geochemical properties of violet marble types with different textural properties that will form the fingerprint database were revealed with the help of polarizing microscope, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM-EDX) and 13δC and 18δO isotope analyses. Within the scope of geochemical studies, main, trace and rare earth element (REE) analyses were performed. Finally, stable 13δC and 18δO isotope analyses were performed to cover all marble samples. According to the results of the study, the presence of mica group minerals such as biotite and muscovite was determined in violet marbles with dense vein structure. In addition to these minerals, it was observed that metallic minerals such as Titanium, Manganese and Iron entered the inner parts of the capillary cracks in the marbles and purple, yellowish green and gray colored veins were formed in the edge zones of the cracked parts. Although calcite is the main mineral in all violet marble varieties, especially in AFV marbles, dolomite, biotite, muscovite, quartz and opaque minerals were observed in addition to calcite. In Argento and Sugar violet marble types, calcite is the main component and there are small amounts of biotite and quartz and opaque minerals. In geochemical studies, CaO is dominant in Sugar and Argento violet marbles, where vein density is not a phase. Other main oxide contents did not exceed 1%. On the other hand, in Afyon violet marble with dense veins, an increase in SiO2, MgO, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 main oxide contents and a decrease in CaO ratio were observed. 13δC values vary between +2.30% and +2.72%, and 18δO values vary between -2.70% and -3.36%. It will be very important to use these isotope values in studies such as determining the origin of marbles and fingerprints.
