Abstract (EN)
The Balkan Wars (1912-1913) have significant transition period features in Ottoman history. There are many internal dynamics which make the Balkan Wars significant. One of these dynamics is the province of Edirne. Edirne has an important place in Ottoman History due to its location and its position in the Ottoman Empire throughout the history. Edirne's importance came to the fore again during the Balkan Wars, which took place in the beginning of 20th century. Furthermore, the Second Balkan War had almost turned to a battle for capturing the Edirne province. In this thesis, it is attempted to discuss how the city of Edirne, which was invaded by Bulgarians, and its people changed in a short period of time and what sort of influences they fall under during the war, siege and occupation period. This change has not only been discussed politically, but the people of Edirne and their experiences have also taken into consideration.
