Intermediary role of trust in the manager in the relationship between employees' transformational and transactional leadership styles perceptions and self-efficacy: A chain hotel application

The aim of this study is to reveal the impact of employees' transactional and transformational leadership styles perceptions on self-efficacy beliefs and to determine the intermediary role of trust in manager on these relationships. The workers performing in different positions of the four and five stars hotel managements belong to a hotel chain, operating in the provinces Antalya, Aydın and İzmir, constitute the target group of the study. As a result of the application, 500 people were interviewed face-to-face with the convenience sampling method but 454 of these questionnaires were evaluated. Percentage and frequency analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis and structural equation model analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, the effects of transactional and transformational leadership styles perceptions of the workers on their self-efficacy were found to be insignificant and it is concluded that trust in the manager did not have intermediary role in this relationship. On the other hand, it was determined that the employees' transactional leadership perceptions had a significant negative effect on trust in the manager and that transformational leadership perceptions had a positive effect on trust in the manager. In the last part of the study, recommendations were made for future researches and sector managers.
