Analysis of labor productivity with cross section data: Sample of basic metal industry

Abstract (EN)

Recently, competitiveness has strengthened for the development of science and technology. With the increasing competition, more importance has been given to the concept of productivity. To take part in though rivalry conditions and to survive, companies need to improve to their overall productivity, particularly labor. Labor productivity is considered impulse of development and one of the most indicator social development of countries. In this study, factors affecting labor productivity of operating companies in base metal industry are researched. TR42, TR63 and TR81 regions where the firms exhibited high conglameration are selected as research regions. The study data were provided with survey method. Descriptive statics, T-Test and One-Way ANOVA were used in the analysis of labor productivity differences between the groups formed according to each factor thought to affect labor productivity. According to the analysis results; ıt was detected that while the region and investment factors had no significant effect on labor productivity, all other factors had significant effects on labor productivity.
