Patients diagnosed with skeletal osteosarcoma retrospective of clinicopathological features evaluation

Abstract (EN)

Osteosarcomas arise from cells of mesenchymal origin, bone or, rarely, soft tissue. Osteosarcoma, the most common primary bone malignancy of bone, is defined by the presence of osteoid and/or immature bone-producing cells. Left untreated, it has fatal consequences for patients with local and often metastatic disease progression. For those without metastases at diagnosis, 5-year survival in major cancer centers was 20%. It is a bone tumor with a serious mortality rate. Of the 47 patients included in the study, 14 (29.80%) were female and 33 (70.20%) were male. The median age of our diagnosed patients was 41 years. When the patients are evaluated according to ECOG staging, the most common 70.20% of them are stage 0. The most common symptom of the patients is pain with 63.80%. When evaluated according to AJCC staging, 29.80% of the most common stage is 4A, and when analyzed according to histological type, 85.10% of the patients are non-osteoblastic. When evaluated according to the location, it was found to be extremity in 61.70% of the patients. When examined according to tumor size, it was found to be >10 cm in 67.40% of the patients. The male/female ratio of age groups and gender was:2.35 and had no effect on overall survival. Considering the effect on overall survival of patients with stage 4A at the time of diagnosis, the risk of mortality was found to be 8.23 ​​times higher. The median survival time of patients classified as 2A according to the AJCC staging system was 68.44 months, patients in stage 2B 38.36 months, patients in stage 4A 12.59 months, and patients in stage 4B 41.03 months. It was determined that the patients in stage 4B had higher overall survival times (41.03 months & 12.59 months; p=0.007) compared to patients in stage 4A. It was determined that the overall survival of patients with lung metastases at the time of diagnosis was lower than those with extrapulmonary metastases. 12 There was no significant difference in overall survival of osteosarcoma histological subtypes between osteobastic and non-osteblastic types. In the treatment regimens of the patients, no superiority was found between the neo-adjuvant and adjuvant treatment modalities on overall survival. Among the treatment modalities, it was determined that cisplatin + doxorubicin regimen was given most frequently in non-metastatic and metastatic patients, and febrile neutropenia developed in 41.20% of them in neo adjuvant kt, and febrile neutropenia developed in 43.5% in adjuvant kt.
