A study on growth characteristics of Torpedo nobiliana Bonaparte, 1835 inhabiting iskenderun bay

A Study on Growth Characteristics of Torpedo nobiliana Bonaparte, 1835 Inhabiting Iskenderun BayThis study was carried out determine the age and growth growth characteristics of electric ray (Torpedo nobiliana) in Iskenderun Bay. Total 93 Torpedo nobiliana that are between the range 12 to 35,5 cm were caught by trawl and gill net between September 2010 and December 2011. 41.93 % was female and 58.07 % is male of the total population. The length and weight relationship was shown as W = 0,0078×L3,2713. This study was the first example for the aging method for this species and Safranin-O method was also used for the first time. Growth model that is derived by using von-Bertalanffy method of this species was: Lt=74,47481 [ 1- e-0,108922 (t + 1,05828)]. Evaluation of the aging of This species made by two independent researchers and Index of Average Percent Error (IAPE) is defined as 3 %. Absolute and Relative growths of fish were determined.
