Abstract (EN)

DC ABSTRACT This study was conducted in İskenderun Bay, Mediterranean Sea, between December 1994 and November 1996. Systematics of the fish species inhabiting the bay were examined and a key to species was formed. In the study, the ratios of morphometric measurements of body of commercial fish species were calculated with 95% confidence interval for the species obtained above 5 samples. From 145 species of 67 family, there were 19 species belonging to Chondrictyes and 126 species belonging to Osteictyes. Of all these species, 24 were Lessepsian Migrant fish species. Three species; Carcharhimts altimus, Taeniura grabata and Etrumeus teres were new records for İskenderun Bay and Turkish waters. Also, Physis blermoides and Sphyraena viridensis were new record for İskenderun Bay. In addition, the finding of this study has put an end discussious about the presence oîScorpaena elongata and Ophidion barbatam in this region.
