Özet (EN)
Ill ABSTRACT Education is the most important fact for modern life to develop. Development level of a nation is its own individuals raised. Education starts from family and shapes in school and surroundings forming personality. Children constitute behavior models for themselves by observing occurrences in their surroundings. Art education improves child personality in constructive way, and makes children happy and peaceful. Art is a self expression way. Child expresses richness of his/her own world, his/her sadness and happiness by means of art. All children are born innocent and shaped in the hands of matures. Children taking their first education in the family becomes a mature harmonious with life if their first education is healthy, conscious and full of love. When opposite happens, they become rebellious, inharmonious, and antisocial persons and tend to commit crime. Crime is described as "harming to other people intentionally" by Adler. Children are not born as criminals, but caused to commit crime. The reason is the family, school and environment conditions. If they commit a crime, they are put into reformatory to be reeducated and socialized. In reformatory, children are given opportunity to express themselves by art education, apart from trade education. Ceramics in art education improves psychomotor behaviors of the children and also provides the children to be relieved. Individuals improve their ideas, feelings and skills by the art education they take. They constitute a productive, self confident and sensitive structure that is able to see nuances. Personality is the most designating property that distinguishes a person from another. Education including art provides personality to improve positively. Regarding to Freud; personality consists of three parts as id, ego and super ego. For an individualIV to maintain his/her psychological balance as healthy, these three elements must be balanced. Individuals develop several defense mechanisms to find a solution to their inner conflicts and to get rid of stress. These methods have to be shaped as suppressing, denying, exalting, identifying, escaping, dreaming, sticking, balancing, replacing and reasoning. When defense mechanisms are used frequently, psychological problems may appear. Starting from the birth, individual encounters several problems during growing phases. Solutions of the problems in adolescence phase are shaped firstly in family than in school-environment relations. In this phase, contradictions between the individual and family/society can find solutions by love and education. In this thesis, written sources were studied by literature search. There is a feature report realized by asking questions to Ankara Keçiören Reformatory ceramics teacher during an exhibition in Zafer Carsisi. Additionally, photographs of the ceramic wares that children made, and technical evaluation of these wares are included in the thesis. In the feature report done with ceramics teacher Yusuf Yildiz, importance of the ceramic education in effort of socializing the children in reformatories was emphasized.
