Abstract (EN)

It is known that family institution, which is the smallest social structure of the society, plays a major role in transferring culture to future generations. In the historical process, naturally, it is inevitable that there are certain changes related to the manifestations and practices of the family institution. Therefore, instead of examining any of the elements generating the culture of society as independent periods in history, it is healthier to examine it by considering its historical continuity. In this study, which we call "Marriage Institution in the First Period of Islam", we tried to determine the marriage institution that Islam tries to put forward and thus the practices about the beginning and end of marriage within the scope of this institution considering its situation in Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic age of ignorance) and based on especially the change and transformation in the Prophet Muhammad's period. Our aim in doing this is to try to show the changes that Islam brought and / or aimed to bring to marriage institution after the Jahiliyyah period.
