Abstract (EN)
Islam, the religion of justice and mercy, is a religion that regulates the human relationships and life, protects the rights of individuals and society, and is based on principles of equality. Applying all aspects of the religion in an orderly manner requires certain laws and sanctions. In Islam, punishments are a part of the religion and ensure this order and have the same purposes as the Islamic religion. Because the purpose of Islamic criminal law is to protect religion, life, mind, lineage and property. Protection of life is possible through the application of criminal norms. This study examines effective acts concerning life and corresponding sanctions in Islamic and Turkish criminal law. In addition, examples from Supreme Court decisions and kadi records are provided to compare these two legal systems theoretically and practically.
