Security problems of Islamic countries and Organization of Islamic Cooperation

In today's, while the Islamic countries take one-fifth of the world's populations most of the Islamic countries face conflicts and turmoils and they have been recognized as the most problematic areas of the world. Islamic World consists of 57 countries and all of them are members of the OIC while holding one a half million people World population. a significant number of Muslims also live as a minority and diaspora in other countries. Muslims have been used to be living together with other cultures and religions in different geographies and countries. However, the idea of the unity of Muslims al over the world or Muslim internationalism has emerged last centuries. The OIC is the last reflection of this idea in the real political area. This idea has been affected by the perplexities, and hesitations about the newly emerged nation-state system instead of the cosmopolitan empire system. Therefore, Muslims acted as emotionally reflective and reactive while the Western World develops new concepts such as constitutionalism, secularism, humanism, positivism, and modernity. In this context, the idea of Islamic unity, which is a difficult ideal to realize, has been adopted as an alternative to a diffusionist world. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which is the most concrete indicator of this quest, still maintains its existence as an international organization with high expectations that cannot be met. In this context, by this work, the main reasons for the unsuccess of the OIC which is the largest organization after the UN, to solve the problems of the Islamic World have been investigated and evaluated. According to the findings, prominent reasons are emphasized in this thesis are that geographic diffusion of Islamic countries in a vast area, different socio-political culture, the lack of common political values and concepts between them. Besides, the fact that Muslim countries are hesitant between traditional and modern state models has been sources of internal and external chaos and therefore this inadaptability causes them to be categorized most of them in the list of failed states. All these are has been determined as the fundamental reasons of the unsuccess and failure of the OIC to solve the security problems of the Islamic world.
