Abstract (EN)

Turkish Participation Banks, as a viable alternative not only for domestic depositors but also for international depositors, sustain to increase their market share in terms of asset size to 6.33% and deposit to 8.39% at the end of 2019, which shares are respectively 2.26% and 3.04% in January 2005. It is obvious that participation banks differ from the conventional ones with regards to ratio of demand deposit to total deposit. While banking law, products served, banks' strategies and business models could be seen as the reasons for this difference, the customer profiles is one of the major factors. That international customers have a high proportion in banks portfolio makes this difference evident. In this paper, we analyze one of the participation banks' natural person deposits in a descriptive way in first chapter. In second chapter we analyze one set of its international customers to demonstrate the personal and macroeconomic factors affecting their demand deposit to total deposit ratio of international depositors and the tendency of domestic currency holding for internationtional depositors.
