Detecti̇on of awareness towards occupati̇onal healt and safety applications and a compliance research of emergency acti̇on plans in publi̇c and pri̇vate enterpri̇ses

Disasters and Emergencies damage to various structures. Financially and morally, one of the foremost is workplaces. In order to avoid this losses, based on Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) law, 'Regulation About Emergencies In The Workplaces' was published in 2013. This field study was done to determine the workplace emergency action plans' compliance and determine awareness of the employees working in the public and private enterprises towards OSH. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used in the study. The scope of quantitative research, to make a face to face interview with senior managers or Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, the scope of qualitative research, to make a staff survey, it is requested an appointment from public and private enterprises which situated Gümüşhane and Trabzon. 20 institutions from Gümüşhane, 11 from Trabzon Totally 31 public and private enterprises accepted the request. The study has been completed by making 563 employees survey and 31 face to face interviews with managers or OSH specialist. When examined considering the regulations, it is determined that %95 of the respondents from which Gümüşhane, %63.63 of Trabzon were missing. With the mean of 3.55, the knowledge level of employees towards OSH applications and with the mean of 2.88, the opinions of them towards OSH applications were found moderately positive. It is suggested that ministry of labor and social security and related institutions should prepare an emergency action plan draft and provide training to increase awareness level towards OSH and ensure more positive approach to OSH applications in institutional sense.
