İşletmelerde sosyal sorumluluk: Konaklama sektöründe bir uygulama

The purpose of this thesis is to explain the relationship between hotels' socialresponsibilities and their rankings, in terms of number of stars. Some of the main reasonsbehind why this study has been conducted are that no study has been conducted on hotelsparallel to this one so far and if there are, they remain very limited on this topic.The study consists of three sections. In section one; social responsibilities of businessesare investigated in historic and literature perspective. In the second section, how thebusinesses' social responsibilities are stated in the theory and application. Finally, in thelast section, an application to estimate three, four and five-star hotels' socialresponsibilities toward their employees, customers and society in Turkey can be found.As number of stars increases how the hotels fulfill expectations of different groupsmentioned above and if there is any variations between regions in terms of socialresponsibilities are examined in the last section. ANOVA is used to estimate statisticalhypothesis and simple regression analysis is conducted for testing hypothesis. Accordingto ANOVA, the relationship between hotel stars and social responsibilities toward theiremployees and the society are found to be statistically significant, but not the relationshipbetween hotel stars and social responsibilities toward their customers. Furthermore, as thenumber of hotel stars increase the their social responsibilities toward the employees andthe society increases while hotels social responsibilities toward their customers remainunchanged.
