Opposition in Turkist-Turanist journals during the İsmet İnönü period

The study titled "Opposition in Turkist-Turanist Journals during the İsmet İnönü Period" deals with the period from November 1938, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk passed away and İsmet İnönü was elected president, to 1950, when the Democratic Party came to power. In this process, the governments during İsmet İnönü's presidency, the policies pursued by these governments and the developments in domestic politics, foreign policy and economy are analyzed. In order to better understand the views of Turkist-Turanist journals, the question of what Turkism and Turanism are has been answered both from the perspective of the Turkists of the Ottoman period and from the perspective of the Turkists of the Atatürk and İnönü period, whom we call "second generation Turkists". After discussing the historical process of the development of Turkism, the Turkist-Turanist journals of the Ottoman and Atatürk periods are analyzed. After creating the necessary infrastructure, finally, the opposition of the Turkist-Turanist journals during the İsmet İnönü period is analyzed. The period of İsmet İnönü, the governments, ministers, policies and developments of the period are analyzed and the reasons for these criticisms are examined. This study, prepared by following the methods of historical science, aims to show that there was a Turkist-Turanist opposition to İsmet İnönü and the government of the period during the single party period and that this opposition emerged long before the Democrat Party. At the same time, it aims to fill the gap in the literature on the Turkist-Turanist opposition by showing how the Turkist-Turanists handled the events within the framework of their world views and principles. As a result of the study, it is concluded that the Turkist-Turanist opposition started during the period of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, intensified during the period of İsmet İnönü due to both the war conditions and government policies, and that the Turkist-Turanists dealt with many issues within the framework of the principles of "anti-communism" and "socialism".
