Geographical study of Spain

In the southwest of Europe is Spanish Espana, or officially the Kingdom of Spain. The Kingdom, located on the Iberian peninsula, has a coast between 9° west - 3° east longitude and 36° - 43.5° north latitude, to the Mediterranean from the south and east, and to the Atlantic Ocean from the north. Spain is the largest country in the Iberian peninsula in terms of area. A large inner plateau called the Meseta Central (Central Plateau) forms most of Spain. The Cantabrian Mountains and Iberian Mountains (Sistema Iberico) rise in the north, northeast and east of the plateau, which is surrounded by mountain ranges along its length, Morena Mountains in the south and low mountains in the northwest. When the climate is examined in general, it varies according to the regions of the country. Precipitation is abundant and mild in the Northwest region due to the influence of the North Atlantic. On the Mediterranean coast, summers are hot, winters are mild and without precipitation. In the north east coast, summer precipitation is sufficient. Continental climate is experienced in the mountainous areas where the altitude increases and in the inner parts of the country. The city of Madrid, the capital of Spain, was established in the center of the Meseta plateau for political reasons rather than economic reasons. Economic activities and the population of the country are concentrated in the coastal areas in the valleys around two important rivers. These rivers are the Guadalquivir in the south and the Ebro in the north. The monarchy based on parliamentary democracy is Spain's form of government. In 1975, his 36-year dictatorship ended with the death of General Franco. Juan Carlos I ascended the throne. The Constitution was adopted by the majority of the people in 1978, after a free election was held and all political parties came together. While the powers of the King in Spain are symbolic, the authority given belongs to the Government.
