Abstract (EN)
This thesis study was conducted to reveal the etiological factors of neonatal calf diarrhea, which is one of the most important causes of losses in the livestock sector, for Isparta Province and its surroundings. For this purpose, a total of 40 calves, aged between 1 and 30 days, 30 of which developed neonatal diarrhea and 10 of which were clinically healthy, were found in the hands of the public in Isparta Province and its surroundings. Clinical examinations were performed on all animals, and the presence of Cryptosporidium spp., Escherichia coli Rotavirus and Coronavirus and Giardia species were investigated in fresh fecal samples taken using Single Radial Immunodiffusion Tests. As a result of our immunological measurements, 16% of the calves with diarrhea had rotavirus, 22.25% had coronavirus, 19.5% had cryptosporidium species, 18.75% had Escherichia coli, 5.25% had Giardia species, 32% had multiple factors, and 36.25% had other causes. When compared with the control group (n=10) animals, in clinical examination, it was determined that body temperature was lower in calves with diarrhea, whereas heart and respiratory frequencies were higher, and the differences were statistically significant (p<0.05). When compared with the control group animals, it was determined that WBC, NOTR, and HTC levels increased significantly (p<0.05) in calves with diarrhea, whereas LYMPH, RBC, and HG levels decreased significantly (p<0.05). The findings we obtained as a result of the study show that coronavirus, cryptosporidium and Escherichia coli agents are dominant in the formation of diarrhea in Isparta and its surroundings, while mixed infections and other causes (feeding errors and other pathological agents, etc.) also play important roles in the formation of diarrhea. Considering these cases as a whole will play an important role in the success of the treatment of calves with diarrhea and protection from diarrhea, we believe that this thesis study will make significant contributions to the animal husbandry of Isparta and our country. Likewise, this thesis is the first study in this field in Isparta Province and its surroundings and will constitute a resource for future studies on the same subject.
