Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is, by analyzing the stained (leaded) glass found in hotels, schools, private properties, workshops, cinemas, pastry shops and special collections of artists in Istanbul and Antalya, to certify their kinds, construction phase, the areas they are used, the techniques used, colour and pattern features, to report and to present the adequacy of it.In the case of this study in order to collect data, a survey was carried out with the help of some specialists and this survey was applied to a group of 50 people composed of stained glass artists and instructors. The workshops producing stained glass in Istanbul and Antalya in 2008-2009, high schools (universities / colleges) and 100 products constitute the nature of this study. Frequency and percentage distribution are taken into account while analyzing and interpreting the results of this study. It is identified that most of the people who are interested in the art of stained glass are of undergraduate (associate degree) education and learn it in universities and apply the most of it in the area of interior decoration. It is also found out that herbal (botanical) designs are at the forefront and the most widely used technique is the technique of Tiffany. That the stained glass education given in vocational high schools and universities is enough to learn the art of stained glass is established. It is also decided that the stained glasses on the market are mostly designed and produced in workshops belonging to the vocational high schools in Marmara University and Akdeniz University.Considering the findings of the survey we can say that the art of stained glass is not as popular as it used to be because of the fact that stained glass artists face a number of difficulties in their workshops, and the number of qualified staff is inadequate, the equipment used in these workshops are far behind the technology and the labour and social security of people who are interested in the art of stained glass are not ensured. Moreover, it is specified that the researchers who investigate and certificate this art face difficulties getting funds for their studies. It is observed that the number of workshops producing with such problems is decreasing considerably.
