İstanbul'da özel bir hastanede polikistik over sendrom tanısı alan kadınların diyet inflamatuar indeksi ve adipozite indeksleri arasındaki ilişki

In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) obtained by determining the nutritional status of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and the adiposity indices. 62 adult women who applied to Yeditepe University Hospital PCOS and Hirsutism Clinic between April and August 2022 were included in the study. In this study, DII scores were calculated by using the three-day food consumption records of the individuals. Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) and Lipid Accumulation Product Index (LAP) of individuals were calculated with anthropometric measurements and biochemical parameters. DII values of individuals were evaluated by dividing them into tertiles. DII breakpoints of individuals vary between -1.93 and 4.64. The mean value of DII was found to be 1.37±1.50. The mean VAI of the participants was 2.72 ± 2.61, and the mean LAP was 113.02 ± 163.26. According to DII tertiles, no significant results were obtained in anthropometric measurements (p>0.05). A significant result was found between the consumption of Vitamin K, Iron, and Copper and DII scores (p=0.04). All anthropometric measurements of individuals with VAI and LAP was found to have a significant and positive relationship (p=0.01). No statistically significant difference was found between the mean values of biochemical findings and adiposity indices according to the DII tertiles of the individuals participating in the study (p>0.05). In conclusion, in our study, no significant relationship was found between DII scores and adiposity indices in patients with PCOS. It will make a great contribution to the literature if future studies will carry out similar studies with a higher sample number.
