The facts and the development of trade and it's transportation led spatial construct in the city center of İstanbul, example of Historical peninsula (Eminönü and Fatih district), Beyoğlu, Şişli and Beşiktaş district

The aim of the thesis is to examine the development process of commerce in the extend of Eminönü, Fatih, Beyoğlu, Şişli ve Beşiktaş Districts in the city center of İstanbul. In the direction of this aim, the effect of commercial activities and transportation interaction to the development process of world cities are examined in the content of literature research. In addition to this, the place of Istanbul inside these worldcities are also determined. In the other stages of the study, commercial space development identified with spatial, managerial dimensions in the historical process of Istanbul. The districts that are subject of the study are examined detailed with sub sectors in the commercial spatial development. The study is finished with the state of existing and planning transportation- commerce relationship. As a conclusion, it is determined that central functions are spreaded and developed towards the north. It?s seen that, transportation projects and applications are orientated the direction of the development. Central functions choose to locate through the north in the paralel of the other world cities. As a reason of this development, offices, plazas, shopping centers, residences and the central structural elements are located in the north of Istanbul city center.
