Types of molds used in jewellery in Istanbul

The aim of this study is to clarify the types of molds used in jewellery in Istanbul and present the ideas of craftsmen working in this field.The sample of the research is constituted of 30 randomly chosen jewellery workshops and the craftsmen working in these workshops in Istanbul. Questionnaire forms were prepared by the researcher and presented to these craftsmen. In addition. Percentage calculations were made from the data derived from the observation forms and questionnaires.At the end of the research, it's understood that there are significant types of molds used in Istanbul Kapalıçarşı workshops. Furthermore, it's observed that these molds are determined according to the desired width of the model, type of the surface, kinds and the numbers of the models. Since each mold has a specific advantage, the mold which is the most suitable for the desired type of model is chosen.Keywords: Jewellery, Rubber Mould, Cuttlefish Mold, Die Mould, Injection Mould.
