Abstract (EN)

The formation of historical gardens has improved and changed,in a way reflecting a specific concept, from country to country as a result of many factors such as the lifestyle of its age and the artistic and cultural features. In this study, you can find the state and importance of the Turkish art of gardening with a view of the art of gardening starting with the palace gardens in a historical process. Turkish art of gardening has its own features among all the styles with its unique style , especially in the gardens of palaces in İstanbul. Turkish art of gardening reached its peak during the Tullip Era but after that period it was influenced by the West , gradually losing its characteristic features in the 19th century until the courtyard and the garden outside mixed up. Of the pre 18th century gardens, Topkapı Palace Gardens are the symbols of Turkish art of gardening . In this study, Topkapı Palace Gardens and Dolmabahçe Palace Gardens dating from 19th century are considered in terms of paysage designing principles and the effects of westernization on the design.
