Istanbul University Professors House restoration project

Beyazıt district, hosts a rich cultural heritage due to its location in the Historical Peninsula of Istanbul. In this respect, as one of the places where the buildings are protected and sustained by refunctioning, the central campus in Beyazıt has an importance. Professors House, with its current name, is one of the kiosks located at the mentioned campus and Beyazıt Square. In this study, current status of Istanbul University Professors House is identifed in detail and documented. Its situation is evaluated during the historical process. In order to transfer this building, with its unique features, to the next generations appropriate interventions are proposed. A functional suggestion is presented within the study, for the purpose of protecting its structure. In this respect, the building is documented with surveying; restitustion studies, detailed drawings and a restoration porposal prepared. Thesis, consists of seven main headings and subheadings. The subject is handled with main headings and subheadings while detailed explanations are made. First of all, based on scientific resources a comprehensive literature research was made in order to determine the history of the building. Especially changes occured in the function of building, were taken into the consideration chronologically. Materials of the building, damages and intervention proposals were shown by different legends that stated in the analytical drawings. Study is concluded with a general assesment. Based on the findings stated throughout the study, the results are revealed.
