Abstract (EN)
With the increase in the world population and the widespread use of machinery, studies focused on energy efficiency are becoming increasingly important. In the European Union, the energy consumed for heating constitutes nearly half of the total energy expenditure. The EU's strategy aims to create a society that is minimally affected by climate change by 2050. In this context, systems that enhance energy savings and controllability in heating systems are gaining greater significance. The individual heating systems (with combi boilers) commonly used in households consist of radiators connected in parallel, with water lines drawn to each room. The water heated by the combi boiler circulates in a closed system, facilitating heat transfer. While the water temperature can be adjusted via the combi boiler, systems that do not use thermostats lack feedback regarding the ambient temperature. Room thermostats, which are widely used, allow for ambient temperature control. However, room thermostats only measure the temperature of the area they are located in and control the on-off operation of the boiler. Therefore, thermostats cannot control radiators individually. Thermostatic valves are used to control the temperature of each radiator (room) independently. These passive control devices regulate the flow in the radiators according to the indoor temperature setpoint selected by the end users. A survey conducted on 35 buildings in the United Kingdom observed that 65% of thermostatic radiator valves led to thermal discomfort and higher energy consumption due to improper use by end users, resulting in poor performance. In this project, the water flow of each radiator will be controlled electronically and the water flow will be cut off when the water temperature reaches the desired value. The electronic control card on the radiators provides temperature measurement and control. Thus, the temperature in each room can be adjusted to the desired temperature independently of the other rooms and can be monitored through a central electronic unit. The communication network within the system is provided with Radio Frequency and remote access outside the system is provided with Wi-Fi connection. In addition, the temperature values in the system can be controlled via the internet with a mobile application.
