Abstract (EN)

There are many problems that employees in today's business life have to deal with. Presenteeism is the first of these problems. Presenteeism has become the most important problem in today's organizations, not only for employees. Defined as, seem to be working or working in the workplace when the employee should physically or mentally rest at home and not work at the required times. An employee who is physically at work but does not work with 100% efficiency causes significant costs that are not visible to the business and causes it to lose its competitive advantage in its sector. Private hospitals competing among themselves are required to solve the problems faced by presenteeism such as presenteeism in order to be able to provide quality services and to be a leader in the health sector. Within this framework, in this study, a questionnaire was conducted with 179 doctors working in 8 private hospitals in the province of Çankaya, Ankara. Within the scope of the research, the effects of organizational factors (job insecurity) and personal factors (personality traits) on presenteeism behaviors of doctors were examined. According to the research results, there exist some significant differences according to the gender of doctors working in private hospitals. In accordance, male doctors felt more qualitative job insecurity than female doctors, and they have more extraversion personality traits and conscientiousness than female doctors in terms of personality traits. Similarly, the doctors working in the surgical department exhibited more extraversion personality traits than those who worked in the internal diseases department, and lastly, the doctors working during daytime showed more presenteeism behaviors than the doctors working as seizure and overtime. In addition, doctors working as seizure and overtime have a higher perceived conscientiousness trait and perceive a higher quantitative job insecurity than do doctors working during daytime. It is also found that quantitative job insecurity has a positive and meaningful effect on presenteeism behavior, that personality traits of conscientiousness, extraversion and agreeableness traits have significant effects on presenteeism behavior, whereas conscientiousness and extraversion personality characteristics have a negative effect and agreeableness personality characteristic affect presenteeism behaviour positively.
