ThesisUniversity Graduate School of Health SciencesDepartment of NursingMaster of Science Programme of Public Health NursingSupervisors:Asist.Prof.Dr. Rabia SOHBETSeptember-2005, 163 pagesABSTRACTThe research was conducted as a descriptive one to determine the causes ofinduced abortion and the distribution of family planning method after abortion.The210 women who went under induced abortion at 75.year Gynecology and ObstetricsHospital of Gaziantep family planning clinic between 01.02.2005-31.07.2005 wereincluded to the study. The interview form preparde by author which includes socio-demographic variants, fertility caharacteristics, family planning knowledge,knowledge about this pregnancy and usage of family planning method after inducedabortion, was used as data collection tool. Percentage calculation, Ki Square test, McNemar Test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test were used in the evaluation of the results.According to the results of the study; 27,6% of the women were between 35-39 yearsold and 61,9% of then were having their first induced abortion and 41,4% of themhad the abortion because of financial insufficiency. It was determined that there wasastatistically significant relationship between the ratio of induced abortion andwoman?s age,marriage?s duration, husband?s age, number of pregnancy, the endingway of previous pregnancy, wish for baby?s sex(p<0,05). There was a statisticallysignificant relationship between the cause of induced abortion and woman?s age,presence of ilness, profession of husband, permannet drug usage, number of livingchildren (p<0,05). A statistically significant relationship between usage of familyplanning method before abortion and woman?s age, duration of marriage, familytype, age of husband, profession of husband (p<0,05). Also there were statisticallysignificant relationships between woman?s age and usage of family planning methodafter abortion (p>0,05) and between duration of marriage, husband?s age andmethods that are used after abortion (p<0,05).Key Words:Induced abortion, cause of abortion, family planning
