Abstract (EN)
In this study, testing the hypothesis of employment-free growth is intended by used quarterly data between 2010:1-2017:4 period fort he selected 5 highly developed OECD countries (Canada, Germany, Japan, Sweden and USA) and 5 medium-developed OECD countries (Chile, Hungary, Mexico, Poland and Turkey). Hypothesis claims that unemployment will not decrease when the economic growth increases. In the study, firstly the stability analyses (Levin,Lin-Chu,Im,Perasan and Shin Breitung) of variables on model are made. On the second stage, whether or not there is long period relations between factors was investigated with cointegration analysis (Pedroni and Kao). On the last stage, long period coefficients between factors was estimated with (FMOLS) Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares and (DOLS) Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares methods. These results are reached according to application: a) As a result of unit root tests applicated on factors, it was identified that factors aren't stable on level values, but they are stable by one percent importance when first differences are taken. b) The results of Pedroni Panel Cointegration and Kao Panel Cointegration tests show that there is five percent importance long term relations between factors. c) According to FMOLS and DOLS methods, the growth hypothesis without employment is not valid when it is evaluated on the basis of panel data analysis. On the other hand, when it is evaluated on the basis of countries, it is not valid in Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Germany and Sweden, but in the USA. Keywords: Jobless Growth, Unemployment, Economic Growth, Panel Data Analysis, Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS).
