Abstract (EN)
Due to the influence of all the reasons that led to women being viewed as inferior and subordinate, from the many legends derived from the story of the creation of woman to the unequal social thinking of Ancient Greece and the medieval mindset that equated women with evil and devilry, women were not granted equal rights with men either within the family or in social life. Women, living under the control and supervision of their fathers or husbands, were confined to the home and could only exist by accepting their primary roles as wives and mothers. In primitive times, men were responsible for hunting to provide for the family, while women took care of the children and their upbringing, cooked, cleaned, and engaged in agricultural activities. In later periods, with the advent of industrialization and the resulting need for human labor, women also contributed to production activities, filling in for men in their absence during wars and assisting soldiers on the battlefield. Women who are disadvantaged due to the unequal and discriminatory attitudes/treatment they encounter in both social life and working life have been unable to attain the positions they deserve and have had to make great sacrifices in order to exist in working life. Therefore, in order to prevent these unequal and discriminatory treatments and to achieve actual equality, there is a need for much more comprehensive regulations, practices, and policies that raise awareness of the value and importance of women and ensure gender equality. This study evaluates gender equality and discrimination against women in employment and throughout the entire work process based on equality theories and the concept of discrimination. The aim of the study is to examine the manifestation of equality and non-discrimination norms, which form the basis of certain national and international documents, in the workplace from the perspective of "women," and to determine how these norms are reflected in our country's policy documents as well as legal regulations. The study will also analyze how our country's judicial mechanisms and human rights institutions evaluate the concepts of "equality" and "prohibition of discrimination" in terms of women's employment and will address the difficulties women face in the workplace.
