Abstract (EN)

Along with being a significant milestone in Turkish political history, the Coup of September 12 is also a social trauma that needs to be examined in terms of socio-political conditions that make up the process and contribute to its continuity. The tragedy penetrated the inner crevices of human consciousness under the shadow of a climate of tortures, the eventual deaths under those tortures, imprisonments and exiles perpetrated by those who shielded themselves through the immunity of the state power. The event shows the ontological image of a history buried in conscience of humanity rather than being a mere military coup in social memory. This historical phase brought about a transformation that spread to all layers of society and played an important role in the formation of "woman" identity. The position of "woman" in social life not only gives us an insight into the world of the individuals' mind who make up the society, it also provides a panoramic reading of the historical period. Therefore, "woman" is not just sort of a mirror that reflects the social structure of the society, she is also an active participant of the society along with symbolic elements she carries around that "identity". In Turkish societal structure, "woman" who was liberated to a certain extent after Tanzimat movements, gained visibility in the public during the Republic era, got relatively stronger through the education she received, and became an active participant in Turkey's civillian and political life in the 70s. By the 80s, with the developing level of consciousness, she has become more present in all walks of life. In the present study, the sociological panorama of the period will be analyzed around the subject of "woman", based on the literary works İşkenceci, Hiçbiryer'e Dönüş, Canbaz, Kuş Diline Öykünen, Gece Rüzgârları and Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar which have September 12th Coup as the point of reference. Traditionalism which shapes around class differences, political and cultural identities, ideological teachings and feminist approaches, while modernity which transforms and changes around concepts such as "woman", "identity", "alienation", "privacy" and "feminist sensitivity" will be analyzed comparatively in the light of rightist and leftist ideological perspectives. Keywords: Woman, coup d'etat, identity, alienation, privacy, feminist sensitivity
