Assessment of izmir commuter rail system by using panel data

In this thesis, the changes in profile, trip behaviors and railway satisfaction of the passengers who travel by Izmir Commuter Rail System (IZBAN) has been investigated. Two wave trip surveys were conducted at six IZBAN stations for the thesis. Passengers were asked about their socio-economic characteristics, trip origin and destination points, mode choice before IZBAN, current trip information and satisfaction degrees from commuter rail. As a result, the passengers who prefer IZBAN, origin and destination points of the passengers, IZBAN's impact on transport modes and detailed satisfaction data were obtained. Also, the factors that affected car owner-ship, making long distance trips and satisfaction were determined by using binary logit model, ordered probit model and random effect model.
