Job satisfaction of shipping agents workers in İzmir

The transportation has an important impact in the increase of benefits of limited resources in terms of national and international scale, and in the development of these resources. The transportation is forwarding the raw materials, semi finished products and products from limited usage and consumption areas to broad usage and consumption areas.Sea transportation is also one of the transportation systems. One of the most important service providers in Maritime Trade is Ship Agents. Once it has been compared with the world statistics, the shipping agency in Turkey is very young industry. The number of organizations of which structure concerning this issue,and working for our country?s importing and exporting, is increasing.The priority for generally organizations and at the same time for Ship Agents shall be having the ability of having happy employees in order to be standing in the competitive environment. The way of having happy employees is to make them satisfied.The term of job satisfaction is first appeared in 1920s and become important in 1940s. And today it is one of the subjects that attract the researchers.In this study, ?survey? is conducted in order to determine the job satisfaction levels of Maritime Organisation Staff who work in the Ship Agents. Therefore some staff of ship agents which are operating in Izmir Region have involved in this survey.In this study it is found out that generally the job satisfaction level of ship agent staff is higher than the average and this is mostly valid for the ones with different qualifications.Key Words: Job satisfaction, ship agents, transport systems
