A study into the modern jewelry in the city of İzmir

The purpose of that study was to search the position of the art of jewelry from the past up to the present time and to examine its development, the techniques and materials used, its sectoral problems, the benefits of being in a touristy environment, the views of those carrying out the profession of jewelry and the status of the art of jewelry in the region depending on their experience.The study was a descriptive one depending on the method of scanning. As a result of a literature scanning by the researcher, a questionnaire was prepared to a apply to the jewelers included in the study in order to obtain data that will form the study and the questionnaire was applied.The population of the study consisted of the jewelers working in the handicraft art of jewelry in the city of Izmir. 150 jewelers working in different braches of the profession in the city of Izmir consisted of the sampling of the study.Within the content of this study, the questionnaire form was applied and the findings obtained through this form were turned into tables through their frequency and percentage analyses.At the end of the study, the latest position of rapidly changing art of jewelry in the city of Izmir at the production of jewels was evaluated. In addition, some recommendations were put forward depending on the results obtained by the findings concerning the interviews and applications carried out in this issue.The fact that Izmir is a developed city in terms of tourism has affected selling prices in a positive way. There are a great many ateliers producing wedding rings in the region. Some other improvements could be obtained dealing with the production of wedding ring.The biggest problem in the region is that people try to carry out the profession without any experience and there appear new problems with the emergence of large companies.The latest position of rapidly changing and developing art of jewelry in the city of Izmir at the production of jewels was evaluated. In addition, some recommendations were put forward depending on the results obtained by the findings concerning the interviews and applications carried out in this issue.
