The laventen's of Izmir and their cultural effects

ABSTRACTTHE LAVENTEN?S OF IZMIR AND THEIR CULTURAL EFFECTSLevant?s had a great impact on Izmir?s social, cultural, economical fields in 18 and 19 centuries. In this study, the Laventen?s history in Izmir, their reasons of chosing Izmir, their attribution to Izmir, their social life, economical facilities and social relationships and their educational facilities are explained.In the first section, by searching widely the evaluation of Laventen?s concept, their identities, the starting stage of Laventen?s? life in Izmir, their reasons of chosing Izmir are tried to get an idea. In this section also, by searching in which nations are Laventen?s belong to, it is explained their relations both with Turks and with each othersIn the second section education in Izmir and Laventen?s are discussed. While handling Laventen?s? educational studies, firstly general conditions of foreign schools in Turkish Educational History are considered. Later, the information is given from different sources about other minor groups and Laventen?s societies educational facilities support various visions. The results of studies show that Laventen?s have in important role in Izmir?s educational system. It is still possible to see such a building of that Laventen?s? period. Nowadays some of these buildings are being used for different aims by Turks.In the third section, Laventen?s? religious life and the understanding of social-cultural life are handled. Their rituals their temples and their religious relations with other socities are mentioned. In this study, we can easily see that Laventen?s who are called as East European and Rums faced many quarrels? and misconcepts on religion between them. These misconcepts sometimes affected other societies and it brought various of fights among them.In the last section, it is mentioned about Laventen?s building.Laventens houses take an important part of Izmir?s architect.
