Abstract (EN)

Earthquake resistant design of buildings to reduce earthquake damage, is one of the most important tasks. A structure that absorbs earthquake forces and that can withstand the destructive power of earthquake, is a great advantage to destroy earthquake disaster from the rough. To achieve this advantage, the engineers of geophysics, geology and construction, must work effectively. To know the properties of ground where the building be done, to introduce how the ground and the structure on the ground act during the earthquake, is the major step of the war against earthquakes. The most suitable ground motion behavior model will be established using the earthquake recording obtained via accelerometers records placed by frequent sampling interval and other geophysical measurement (MASW, microtremor, seismic, resistivity and ground drilling) at Izmir Metropolitan area. There are 16 pieces of strong ground motion measurement stations established. Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves(MASW) studies, Vertical Electrical Resistivity Sounding(VES) and Resistivity Tomography studies, microtremor measurements was carried out. In addition, the geotechnical borehole drilling with the depth in the range of 20 to 300 meters and Standart Penetration Tests(SPT) were obtained one each at every station. At the second stage, according to the results of the preliminary assessment at some stations(BLC_Balcova, BRN_Bornova and MVS_Mavisehir stations at this study), the change of soil properties depending on the change of direction were examined. It was concluded that a micro scale study should be done while the soil classification is realised in the region of Izmir Metropolitan, which is based on the all results obtained.
