The studies of İzmir Pedagogical Advisory Board and its reflections on the press

In the history,The Eagen Region and İzmir became important with the values of its geographic area as the cradle of the ancient cultures and being one of the places that form the basis today?s Western Civilization.Coming after İstanbul, the country?s leading industrial and commercial center, İzmir is the most important port city of Anatolia in which the educational and cultural life has always been alive. Therefore,the various educational and cultural movements in İzmir are gaining importance in terms of their quality of giving light for today.The innovation and the pioneering movement in training and education in İzmir have been on the issues of primary education. During this process the studies of ?Pedagogical Advisory Board? were considered and applied as a kind of?Training Breakthrough? or ?Job Action?. For this purpose,a three day congress was held in the Bergama Community Center in Bakırçay Area by more than 200 teachers from Bergama, Kınık and Dikili, on the 24 to the 25 of September 1949.It was?The First Bergama Practical Education Congress?As a result of this activity, the primary school teachers reached an organized meeting in İzmir fort he first time.Consequently,the practical training congress Studies performed between 1950-1956 in İzmir were the first and only example of?Local Education Aplication?of Turkey in which the decisions concerning education and training were taking outside the ministrial central Constition,in the provinces and the participants and practitioners were the educators working in that local area.In general, studies of ?Pedegogical Advisory Board? in makimg sysmatic education and training efforts, co-operation in improving the quality of the provision have an important place in Turkish History of Education .They were applied the first in the past and callled ?the only model?Key Words: İzmir,Education-Training, Pedagogy,History of Education
