Abstract (EN)

Keywords: According to Temettuat Records, İzmit s social and econimical structure. Tax, population, social and economical life. In recent years a fashion of history writing shows itself that considered social and economical activities in the habitats of people who affects history. Our research includes that information about social and economical life in İzmit' s town and villages in the 1844-45. Our research main source is the temettuat records that made for tax records. We compared population and town names with previous and following times. In accordance with temettuat records we found information about İzmit' s social and economical life. We presented İzmit- population's ethnical and numerical enumeration. We put forward that İzmit' s planted areas, amount of fallowland areas and ration of population who engaged with agriculture and stock-breeding. Excluded agriculture and stock-breeding, we found information about tradesman and merchants. We learned about the total number of profession and their incomes. We considered that professions come into in accordance with region's necessity and sources so that we put forward İzmit' s social and economical status. We found out the tax load and tax types from İzmit's tax records which put in order for the purpose of tax gathered justly. From time to time we discussed before and after 1844-45 in details. We touched on population information according to İzmit's history, tahrir, avarız, and temettuat. We searched 1844-45 in the subjects of ecomomical structure, occupations and taxes. We found out İzmit- population's ethnical structure. From 1844-45 that we examined to World War I we realized that population of Muslim and non-Muslim is in balance. We compared the peculiarities of Muslim and non-Muslim population in villages and we pointed out the differences in two groups. IX
