The ceramic faunds of the Lost Tower exacavations near the Yenişehir Gate at İznik (Nikaia)

The ceramics and ceramic pieces that constitute the study subject of the thesis have been discovered from the "Lost Tower" near Yenişehir Gate, which is located in today's Iznik district of Bursa province and formed the southern border of the ancient city Nikaia which is from ancient times. The Lost Tower trench is the second drilling trench excavated within the scope of 5 drilling projects carried out by Iznik Museum Directorate from 27 March 2017 to 12 April 2017, with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. 214 ceramic and ceramic pieces extracted from the Lost Tower Drilling 2 trench were evaluated within the framework of the study. The finds are pieces of ceramic vessels shaped by kneading with clay and additives and hardened using fire. Terracotta pots were examined by grouping them according to material, typology and chronology. In the excavation of the Lost Tower, which has not been scientifically determined until today, a large amount of ceramics was found on the Iznik Yenişehir Gate Walls. The finds have provided us with a lot of data about the process the area has lived through. In this thesis, with the help of terracotta pots, an answer has been sought for the periodic process of the Lost Tower.
