Abstract (EN)
The Six Cello Suites of Johann Sebastian Bach, whose influences continued in later periods of the Music History both in instrumental and vocal music, have been one of the mostly performed works of the cello repertory. The influence of J. S. Bach, continued in later periods of the Music History, was almost reflected in the suites he composed for cello. Aforementioned suites included exhibitions of thematic materials which reveal the use of cello's sound limits, sonorities and performance abilities. J. S. Bach's Six Cello Suites have differed from each other in terms of character, thematic material, harmony, form, style and performance. In particular, the BWV 1011 Do Minor Fifth Suite includes differences in the context of form and the exposition of thematic materials, in the context of presentations in other suites. Amongst the Six Suites, Fifth Suite is the only French Suite that starts with prelude and fugue. Due to these differences in the context of other suites, the Do Minor Fifth Suite has made it possible to be examined. The aim of this study is to examine the exhibitions on melodic and harmonic structures in J. S. Bach BWV 1011 Do Minor Fifth Cello Suite in terms of their similarities and differences with the other five suites of Do Minor Fifth Suite within the scope of formal structures. Do Minor Fifth Suite has been examined within the context of J. S. Bach and his works, Baroque Period instrumental music forms and the place of the cello in Baroque Period Tradition and the historical developments until this tradition. Keywords: Johann Sebastian Bach, Cello, Suite, Baroque Period, Cello Suites
