Space in Jale Sancak's stories

The birth of the modern story in Turkish literature begins with the second half of the 19th century. From this date on, the understanding of story in Classical and Folk Literature leaves its place to the understanding of story in Western literature. Since the authors reflect the conditions of the society and the changes in the works they deal with, the space has taken its share from the existing changes. The aim of our study titled "Space in JaleSancak's Stories" is to determine the functions of the spaces in JaleSancak's stories, to reveal the author's perspective on spaces, and to dwell on the bonds formed between the space and the hero. Our study consists of three parts except introduction and conclusion. In the introduction part, the historical development of modern Turkish storytelling and the relationship between literature and space are briefly emphasized, then JaleSancak's life and storytelling are discussed in the second part. In the 3rd chapter, before moving on to the places in the stories, brief information about the stories was given and the ground was prepared for the venue part, and then the main part of the study, the 4th chapter. In the aforementioned section, the places in the stories were emphasized, and the data obtained were evaluated in the conclusion part. A total of 134 stories of the author have been published so far. When the aforementioned stories are examined, it is seen that JaleSancak frequently includes Istanbul and places belonging to Istanbul in her stories. For this reason, the author is referred to as the "Istanbul storyteller". The stories have almost turned into Istanbul documentaries.
