Abstract (EN)

Evil is one of the most debated views in the history of thought. The purpose of this study is Rousseau's thought on evil. The thinker is important because he is the first person to bear the evil that exists, to the actions of man without associating with God.Looking at Rousseau's idea of evil, it is seen that it is shaped around the natural state and society. In this direction, the first important thinkers in the history of Philosophy, Platon, Augustinus, Leibniz, Kant, Hegel, Schelling, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Marx and Arendt's views on the evil will be given a brief overview. While doing all this, the problem of evil and the process of change from the first to the modern period will be given. At the same time, the importance of Rousseau will be presented by revealing the similarities and differences between the mentioned thinkers and Rousseau. The first thing to do is to give information about the natural situation in which people live in freedom and equality before socialisation. Then the society he sees as the source of evil and the transition towards him is presented in stages. The content of the phases consists of the needs, self-compassion-compassion-self-esteem, language, inequalities, property, great revolutions and the effects of science-literature-art. In the last chapter, we will focus on how Rousseau can tame the society, which is the source of evil, with the idea of social contract and education. What kind of changes are made with the social agreement, the structure of the state and the changing system will be mentioned. Then, the education of individuals/citizens who will live in the new state system established by the community agreement will be explained. Education is important because it provides society with citizens who can choose the best for themselves, who can identify and perpetuate the best for themselves without being influenced by others.
