Determination of quality of life of patients with gynecological cancer

This study was conducted to determine the quality of life of patients with gynecological cancer. This descriptive study, 160 patients with gynecological cancer who applied to the gynecology oncology outpatient clinic, service and chemotherapy unit of a state and university hospital in the southern region of Turkey were recruited. Data, It was collected between January 2020 and December 2021, using the Personal Information Form and the Quality of Life Scale/Cancer Patient. Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Independent Sample-t test, ANOVA test, Pearson and Spearman correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The mean age of patients with gynecological cancer was 59.82±10.60 years, endometrial CA of 46.8%, 51.2% of them had a diagnosis period of <1 year and It was determined that 38.1% of them were stage 1. The total mean score of the Quality of Life Scale of patients with gynecological cancer was found to be 5.60±1.13. The mean score of the "physical well-being" sub-dimension of the scale was 5.81±1.46; The mean score of the "psychological well-being" sub-dimension was 5.32±1.56; the mean score of the "social well-being" sub-dimension was 7.8139±1.27; The mean score of the "spiritual well-being" sub-dimension was found to be 4.05±1.30. Between the education level, income level, clinical stage, presence of a family history of cancer and the total score of the Quality of Life Scale of patients with gynecological cancer It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). In the study, it was found that the quality of life of patients with gynecological cancer was moderate.
