Abstract (EN)

In this work an indirect method for the determination of vitamin K usingdifferential pulse polarography has been developed. The differential pulsepolarographic peak height of Ti(IV) formed from the oxidation of Ti(III) byvitamin K was used for the determination of the vitamin. Vitamin K wasobtained from the market as water soluble menadion sodium sulfite, and TiCl3and TiCl4 were used as Ti salts. Vitamin K is insoluble in its quinine form; tomake it water soluble potassium meta bisulfite is present in its manufacturatedsolution. Since sulfite interferes with the electrochemical determination it had tobe eliminated first. The quinine reacts with Ti(III) added and the Ti(IV) peakformed was measured. Thus vitamin K could be determined indirectly, withhigh precision and accuracy. The polarographic medium and the optimumconditions for reaction medium have been studied. It was possible to determine10-5M of vitamin K using this method and vitamin K content of a preparate soldin the market could be determined.Science Code : 404.03.01Key Words : Vitamin K, Determination.
