Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the theoretical and practical use of the sound system and microtones in Kabak Kemane education and performance in line with the opinions of the instructors, who teach Kabak Kemane in vocational music education institutions, about the sound system and microtones they use in teaching the rast, hüseyni and segâh maqam scales, and the opinions of Kabak Kemane performers about the sound system and microtones they use for performing maqam scales. The qualitative research method, which is one of the scientific research methods, was used in the study. In this research, which is prepared with the case study pattern, one of the qualitative research models, the interview technique is used and the literature and the documents related to the subject are reviewed. In this study, interviews were made with five academicians who work in vocational music education institutions that give education regarding the usage of microtones stated in rast, huseyni and segah maqam scales for education and performance of Kabak Kemane and five Kabak Kemane performers. In the context of the subject, a semi-structured interview form was prepared for expert educators and performers to determine the use of microtones in the three abovementioned maqam scales selected in the research. A descriptive analysis is made on the answers given by the participants to the questions in the semi-structured interview form and it is presented in the findings section. According to the results obtained from both the educators and the performers, it is concluded that terminology should be created in the teaching of microtones, together with the use of the sound system and microtones, which are mainly used in the field of Turkish Folk Music in the Kabak Kemane education. As for the performers, although they mainly use the sound system and microtones used in the field of Turkish Folk Music, it is observed that they use different microtones in solo performances and group performances, with the advantage of playing a fretless instrument, especially in terms of microtones.
