Abstract (EN)
In this study two experiments were conducted. In the first experiment, seed yield and quality of ten naked-seed pumpkin lines developed by cooperation of Cukurova University and Ankara University Agricultural Faculties, were compared. In the second one, effects of plant density on seed yield and quality were examined using ?Line Number 23?. Both experiments were conducted in the Experimental Area of Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture in 2006. As the seed quality criteria, thousand-seed weight (g), humidity rate (%), germination percentage (%), protein and oil contens (%) were examined. In the first experiment, breeding line ?Line Number 7? was remarkable by the highest seed yield. ?Line Number 3?, ?Line Number 9? and ?Line Number 23? lines took the last places from the aspect of seed yield. For the seed yield index (seed weight/fruit weight) ?Line Number 5? and ?Line Number 7? lines; for seed yield per fruit and seed yield per plant ?Line Number 7? line; for oil rate ?Line Number 1?, ?Line Number 10?, ?Line Number 16? and ?Line Number 23? breeding lines were the outstanding ones. No difference was observed among the breeding lines in protein ratio, germination percentage and thousand-seed weight. In the second experiment, effect of plant density on seed yield per plant was observed, however, no statistical effect on yield in unit area was noted. Plant density affected just thousandseed weight among the seed quality properties, high plant density decreased thousand-seed weight. Plant density did not cause significant change in remaining quality properties. Keywords: Pumpkin, naked-seed, plant density, genotype, Cucurbita pepo.
