Abstract (EN)
Travel and tourism has the potential to transform on people. In this context, the aim of this study is to explain the travel motivation of the travelers to the Kaçkar Mountains National Park, the experiences they had during the travel process and the transformative effects of the travel they have made as a result. In this study, which is the theoretical basis of Transformational Learning Theory (Mezirow, 1978), qualitative research methods are preferred and phenomenology approach is adopted. Rich and deep data were obtained from 16 participants who visited the Kaçkar Mountains National Park. Interview technique was used as data development tool. In addition, data was provided by e-mail from some participants in order to obtain rich data. In the research findings, it is concluded that the motivation of the participants who visited Kackar Mountains National Park was determined as escape, novelty, curiosity and nature. It was found that interacting with local people, other travelers and nature in the participants was the most important experience that triggered the transformation. For the main purpose of the study, it was found that the participants improved environmental awareness, behavioral change, self-realization, personal development, social and cultural change, health and well-being and social benefit. As a result, the transformative power of travel and tourism on travelers has been determined in the Kaçkar Mountains National Park. Thus, in addition to its contributions to the domestic literature, the transformative potential of the Kaçkar Mountains National Park was also revealed. Furthermore, the study sheds light on new research proposals that can lead to further studies.
