Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this dissertation is to discuss the changes in Kadirli's urban structure from the year 1968 to the year 2023, taking into account the historical circumstances and the urban as well as economic evolution of Kadirli over the years, the reason being its ideal location in the Çukurova region. This study, which will examine the spatial, economic and demographic transformations of Kadirli, is intended to present the evolution of the town from a rural agricultural community into a city mainly serviced by different industries. The research uses analysis of historical aerial photographs of the area produced by the General Directorate of Mapping and digital maps produced by MapInfo Pro software showing the area's urban growth and changes in land cover within the area. This text analysis provides these factors, which have resulted in changes in the urban form of Kadirli, including its social and economic factors, social and economic dynamics, and development. Results indicate that Kadirli, which was primarily a very small agrarian settlement has transformed over time, motivated by the internal influx of people who wanted housing, and construction of residential areas and socio-technical systems followed.
