Abstract (EN)

Among the basic building blocks of economic activities, the most important share consists of employed individuals. There may be differences in employment rates depending on the level of economic development of countries. There are many reasons for these differences other than economic factors. Many factors such as education, culture, social structure, religion and state policies play a determining role in the employment structure. Apart from the differences in employment in general, there are also factors that affect women's presence in the labor market. Women's employment can be affected positively or negatively for a variety of reasons across countries and regions. In recent years, many steps have been taken in Turkey to include women in the labor market. Despite this, the issue that continues to be discussed is the disadvantaged position of women in employment. In this study, the factors affecting employment in Turkey and specifically women's employment, the place and importance of women's employment in labor markets, the historical process of women's employment and theories developed on women's employment were examined. The main purpose of this study is to determine the current situation of women's employment in Düzce province. In the study, labor force reports published by İŞKUR were examined to reveal the status of women's employment in Düzce. In the study where the last five years of data were examined, the current situation of women's employment in Düzce was compared with the current situation of women's employment in Turkey. The sectors where women are most frequently employed, employment status according to socio-demographic characteristics, rates of registered and unregistered employment of women, vacant jobs and job placement rates, and the status of women's employment in Düzce were examined in comparison with both Turkey and men's employment. As a result of this comparison, it was determined that İŞKUR data for Düzce province and for Turkey in general were similar in many ways. It was understood that the data regarding the situation of the disabled, ex-convicts and those injured in the fight against terrorism and the data in the accommodation and food services activities sector were not similar.
