Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the level of women teachers participation in decision making according to perception of barriers they meet in their careers. Within the context of this main aim, the levels of women teachers participation in decision making at schools, the levels of their perception of career barriers and their place in teaching career have been researched. According to the results of the research, the fact that if there was a relation between the level of women teachers participation in decision making at schools and the levels of their perception of career barriers and their place in teaching career or not was found out. The fact that these levels differ depending on the marital status, length of service and the number of kids they have or not have been examined.The scope of this research consists of women teachers who were in the city centre of Kırsehir in 2010-2011 education period. The research sample consists of 255 women teachers chosen randomly. The survey used as data gathering tool in the study was developed by the researcher by studying the related references, scanning previously madestudies and quoting expert views.According to the result of the research, the perception of women teachers in career barriers is on moderate level. On the other hand, their levels of perception of their place in teaching career is on the positive level. When the levels of women teachers participation in decision making and their levels of perception of career barriers were examined in terms of sub-groups a significant relation was observed between the levels of participation in decision making on the management of education programs, pupils? resources, and financial resources and the levels of their perception of career barriers. A significant relation was observed between the level of perception of teaching career and the sub-dimensions of level of participation in decision making.As a result, the fact that women teachers consider some factors as barriers to career making and the level of their perception of their own places in teaching career affect the level of decision making which is the most important dimension of management process.Key words: Social Gender, Women Teachers, Career, Decision Making Participation
