Women's reproductive health protective attitudes: A scale development study

Objective: This study, carried out methodologically in order to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool that can measure for determining the reproductive health protective attitudes of women of reproductive age. Material and Method: The research was conducted between October 23-March 29, 2024. The data collection of the study took place using the "Descriptive Information Form" and "The Scale of Women's Reproductive Health Protective Attitudes". The content validity of the draft scale, which was created as a result of the literature review and content analysis of the qualitative interviews, was evaluated by taking expert opinions. In data analysis, descriptive analyses, explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis, item-total correlation, Cronbach's alpha coefficient if the item is deleted, Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient, item analysis based on lower and upper groups, Pearson correlation analysis tests were used. Findings: A question pool of 67 items was created as a result of the literature reviews, interviews with individuals and expert advice. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of the scale was found as 0,86, while the result of Bartlett's test was found to be 1758,184. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, a structure consisting of 15 items and four factors explaining 52,57% of the total variance was obtained. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, it was found that the four-factor structure with 15 items revealed good fit values and was confirmed as a model (x²/sd 1,588; RMSEA 0,049; CFI 0,905; NFI 0,783; GFI 0,891; AGFI 0,862). The internal consistency coefficient of the scale is 0,86. Conclusion: As a result of the analyzes, it can be said that scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool and it can be used to determining the reproductive health protective attitudes of women of reproductive age.
